Premier Strength Athlete in The Hockey News
October 15th, 2010
Premier Strength athlete Mark McNeill is off to a great start in his NHL draft year. Good enough to make The Hockey News Hot List. This year was Marks first at Premier Strength and we are proud to have such a hard working athlete join our team. Some of Marks results from this summer include:
% Body fat – Down from 12.1% to 9.9%
Weight – Increase from 206 lb to 215lb
Lean Muscle Mass – Increased from 181 lbs to 193.7 lbs (14.7 lbs of lean muscle gained) in less then 16 weeks.
If you think the aesthetic gains are good, Marks performance gains were even better:
20 m Sprint – Dropped from 3.04 sec to 2.90 sec
Pro-Agility – Dropped from 4.60 sec to 4.18 sec
Squat Max – Increased from 315 lbs to 410 lbs
Bench Press Max – Increased from 225 lbs to 305 lbs
Our goal at Premier Strength is to turn every Hockey Player who chooses to train with us into a better athlete. We believe that if we can accomplish this goal greater performance will be realized on the ice. Mark definitely accomplished this goal and is now reaping the rewards in his performance.
As always we would like to thank Mark and all of our athletes for choosing to work with us and for your dedication to the program.

Premier Strength Athletes Makes Penguins

WHO’S HOT?
| Mark Letestu – Penguins center Mark Letestu came to training camp intent on earning a spot with the big club. Such a mindset allowed the 25-year-old Elk Point, Alberta native to tie for the team scoring lead with six points (1G-5A).

Mark had a great summer training at premier strength, and it has paid off earning a spot as the 3rd line center for the Pittsburgh Penguins. One of Marks main goals was to decrease his body fat and maintain lean muscle mass. Through a discipline diet and proper training we were able to decrease Marks body fat to under 9% while maintaining his weight at 195 lbs.
The fear when dropping body fat is that the athlete will also lose strength. Marks Squat Max = 415 lbs, Clean Max = 235lbs, and Bench Press Max = 260 lbs. As you can see from those numbers that did not happen to mark.

Premier Strength Athletes
June 16th, 2010
Premier Strength Athletes had great seasons in 2009-2010. To highlight a few:
* Blair Bettts and the Philadelphia Flyers made a great Stanley cup run, Blair proved himself as one of the elite penalty killers and face-off men in the NHL.
* Johnny Boychuck established himself as an elite defenceman with the Boston Bruins. Johnny along with D-partner Zedano Chara were key factors in the Bruins playoff run, playing 30 minutes a night on occasion.
* Jason Chimera continued to prove is value as a power forward when the Washington Capitals traded for him to provide depth and size to a future cup contender.
* Troy Rutkowski continued to impress scouts by being invited to the top prospects game as well as the NHL combine as he looks forward to the up-coming draft.
We are just over 6 weeks into our 2010 off-season hockey training program, and we are currently running at full capacity. Most of the athletes that we will be working with this summer have started training with the exception of 2 or 3 who will start in the next few weeks. We are very excited about training this summer as we have added some quality hockey players to our stable of athletes, these players include:
Jay Bouwmeester – Calgary Flames
Matthew Frattin – University of North Dakota
Joe Morrow – Portland Winterhawks
Mark McNeill – Prince Albert Raiders
Along with these higher profile players we have also added a great crop of young players who you will hear great things from in the months and years to come.
Thanks to all of our athletes for continuing to prove that Premier Strength is the best strength & conditioning program in the Edmonton area.
