Should I Take Creatine?

Creatine is one of the most popular and controversial supplements on the market.  I am often asked by parents and athletes if  they should take creatine.  Most people have a very negative opinion of creatine, when in actual fact it may be one of the safest supplements on the market not to mention one of the most beneficial.  Creatine has been shown to not only improve performance but recent studies have indicated increased cognitive function with creatine supplementation.  For most people 3-5 grams of creatine per day is all they require, larger athletes or an athlete in a hard training phase my benefit from as much as 10 grams/day.
